The VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) is a unique identifier assigned to a vehicle used for its identification. The VIN can be found in one or several of the following places:
- Registration certificate: The VIN is a 17-character string displayed as the chassis number in the registration document.
- Vehicle windshield: In a small window at the lower corner of the windshield on the driver's side. Depending on the manufacturer and model, it may appear together with a barcode for electronic reading of the chassis number.
- VIN identification plate: Depending on the manufacturer, brand, and vehicle type, it may be located in one of many places: in the engine, in the trunk, under the passenger seat, on the door pillar, on the frame of an off-road vehicle.
- Vehicle documents: You can also find the chassis number in other vehicle documents such as: purchase invoice, vehicle inspection documents, repair invoice, vehicle purchase agreement, homologation, etc.
